Gov’t: Religious, Educational Activities Commence in Covid-19 Pandemic

The President of
the Republic of Ghana, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has announced the
reopening of religious, educational and public gatherings after a ban of restrictions
lifted from 1 June.
According to the
president, the Executive Instrument EI passed by parliament on 12 March placed a
ban on social gatherings.
As it stands now, the country has tested over
200,000 patients with 8,070 testings positive, 36 death and over 2000 fully
recovered and discharged.
All Educational,
religious, Electoral, National Identification and National Commission for Civic
Education activities brought to halt.
The President in his 10th nation's address announced that after consultations and
dialogue with relevant stakeholders, there would be limited ease on some of
the restrictions the EI implemented starting June.
Educational sector, 15 June
According to
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, final year students of various Universities are to
attend lectures in minimum numbers while observing social distancing and
personal protective protocols.
Final Senior
High School candidates and gold track students must go back to the
classrooms
Final Junior
High School students entreated to go back to school while observing PPP.
The president
indicate the Ghana Education Service GES will be fumigating and disinfecting
campuses as well as providing teachers and students with PPEs that are
reusable.
In addition, GES
urged to supply PPEs to teachers and students to help curb the spread of the
virus.
Religious
Activities
Churches and
Mosques activities to commence as the government eases coronal virus-induced
restrictions.
The President in his 10 address disclosed that religious
activities could commence with a congregation of 100 in an hour service.
He also
indicated that names of participants must be recorded since the COVID-19 team
will require it for national data and assessments.
Sporting
Activities,
Non-contact
sports can return while football remains banned and our borders remain closed
thus sea, land, and airways.
According to the
president, measures are taken to bring back citizens who could not return due
to the closure of our borders but will have to be quarantined and observed
before allowed to go to various families.
Speaking on the
Comorbidity finds in the 36 death recorded during this pandemic, the President
urged diabetics and hypertension patients to take care and ensure a healthy lifestyle.
He added, our
health facilities are not overwhelmed as compared to other nations but there is
the need to build and equip health firms to able to combat any future viral
pandemic.
