We Want To Be Part of North East Region: Youths from Chereponi District Demands
The youths from Chereponi District in the Northern Region is
calling all stakeholders to vote YES to be part of the new North East Region to
accelerate development in the District.
This was highlighted after a peace walk and campaign
organized on the 27th October at the District Assembly.
The District Chief Executive of Chereponi Razak Tahidu
speaking at the campaign launch stressed the need for all people of Chereponi
to vote “yes” come 27th December to help harness development in the
District.
According to him, “the District lacks relevant social
amenities such as quality health care, roads and job opportunities and that, if
the district is added to the new North East Region to be created, there will be
massive development”
“We have been part of Northern Region for years but our
roads are in bad conditions and there are no jobs for the teeming youths in the
District”, he added
Mr. Tahidu speaking on the rumors concerning where the
Paramountcy will be if the District is added to North East Region said, “the
paramountcy can still be part of the Dagbon Traditional Council as it from the
past but we want to be part of the new region”
The DCE slammed the claim that, the request to be part for
the new region was imposed stating that, “we all showed massive support when
the commission of inquiries came to our District and expressed our opinions
during the public dialogue”
“How can someone force or influence us, we are here and we
know the difficulties we face as a District”, he added.
